Nature themed Birthday | AWLSU016 Part 2

Hi and thanks for popping by :)

On Monday our latest fortnightly challenge #AWLSU016 for the Aussies Who Love Stampin' Up! Facebook Group started and I shared with you my Admin inspiration (click here to view my card).

I teamed our Tic-Tac-Toe challenge with a colour challenge from Sunday Stamps.

While I was making the card front background for that card, I played around with the same stamps and came up with some other backgrounds that were a little different. I loved them too and decided to turn them in to cards as well, otherwise they would have ended up in my unfinished card pieces/projects box.

Do you have one of these boxes? Wow, some cool stuff .... and not so cool stuff.... can end up in there.
Note to self.... MUST go through that box to see what I can create with all those random pieces and half finished projects.

In case you missed it, our #AWLSU016 Tic-Tac-Toe challenge is below.

Just choose any horizontal row, vertical row or diagonal and make your project using all 3 inspiration themes/ideas.

For these cards I also chose the middle vertical row for my inspiration: Nature, Embossing & Ribbon, however this time I used Dry Embossing instead of Heat Embossing.

Here is the Sunday Stamps colour challenge #189, that I used for my colour palette. This time I only used 3 colours: Poppy Parade, Pumpkin Pie & So Saffron.

For my latest cards I used the same stamp sets as my original: Rooted in Nature & Picture Perfect Birthday. The Stitched Shapes framelits also make another appearance.

The Rooted in Nature co-ordinating framelit set: Nature's Roots includes a couple of dies that are just for embossing. I added some very subtle detail to my sentiment stitched square by dry embossing the small and large leaves. Being subtle it is a little hard to see in the above photo, so see the below photo for a clearer image. Tip: Stamp the sentiment first, then emboss.

I used a little piece of retired Pumpkin Pie Chevron ribbon, from my HUGE ribbon stash for this card. The ribbon is folded and was attached to my sentiment die cut before I adhered it to my card front using some Mini Stampin' Dimensionals.

There is a new Dynamic Textured Impression Embossing Folder in the Holiday Catalogue called Corrugated. I just love this embossing folder (and am hoping it hangs around).

I cut a small strip of So Saffron cardstock and ran it through my Big Shot using the Corrugated Dynamic TIEF. I topped it with a little Whisper White Classic Weave Ribbon, and then added my sentiment with Mini Stampin' Dimensionals.

Thanks so much for your support and for visiting me today :)

  1. I love this effect with color graded leaves - so striking and polished. Such a beautiful way to play a color challenge - and paired with a wonderful sentiment! Thanks so much for playing at Sunday Stamps!
