Crazy Crafters Blog Hop with special guest Amy Koenders

Welcome and thank you for joining me in a special Crazy Crafters team blog hop.

We are hopping with a special guest - The very talented Amy Koenders.

The theme of this blog hop was to CASE (Copy And Selectively Edit) one of Amy's cards.

Here is the card of Amy's that I chose to CASE:

To checkout Amy's card in more detail click here.

***********************************

I recently offered to provide a handmade card to go with an end of year teacher gift the parents of my son's Kindy class were organising.

We ended up purchasing a gift card and I had a decent pile of Thank You / For You cards in my "stash" that would have been easy to add a small pocket for a standard credit card sized gift card. However this one came in a square folder with a pretty sparkly silver envelope which was wider than my standard A6 sized cards. I couldn't not keep that pretty envelope so darn, I was going to need to make a new card ....however do we really need an excuse to create something new :)

So off I went to create a pretty Thank You card that would fit the gift card envelope.
Hope you like it... I certainly do and I hope my son's teacher does as well :)

I took inspiration from Amy's birthday card as I really wanted to #loveitchopit my pack of gorgeous Petal Promenade DSP. I used the same colour palette - Mossy Meadow, Petal Pink & Very Vanilla and added in a little gold with my ribbon choice.

In addition to the Petal Promenade DSP, I have also used the Subtle Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, Frosted Bouquet Framelits and the Tropical Chic Stamp Set (sentiment). The ribbon used is the retired Gold Natural Trim.

Below are some photos of the card & gift card holder opened up...

I haven't included it in my photos, but I used the Make a Difference & Labeler Alphabet stamp sets to write our message and include each of the children's names.

I went with Mossy Meadow ink and the Make a Difference set for the main message and Blushing Bride ink and the Labeler Alphabet set to add the names.

.....I have to say, make sure you are paying attention when using alphabet stamps, because I was almost finished when I missed a letter in 1 child's name and then had to redo the whole lot again. I must say I was super focused second time around and glad I didn't glue the Very Vanilla liner down before I stamped the message.

To create my envelope pocket, I used my Simply Scored Scoreboard to create tabs and the 1" Circle Punch. I used Multipurpose Liquid Glue to adhere the pocket.

***EDIT***
I have edited my post to include some measurements for my card, at the request of one of my readers.
I hope they help, should you try and re-create my card with gift card pocket.

My card dimensions were a result of the gift card envelope I had to work with, if you require a different sized pocket you may need to adjust one or more of the below measurements.

Gift card envelope: 11.5cm x 11.5cm (4-1/2" x 4-1/2")

Cardstock base: 29.7cm x 14.9cm (11-15/20" x 5-17/20"), A4 sheet cut to 14.9cm wide, scored in half.
Cardstock for Gift card pocket: 15cm x 13cm (5-15/16" x 5-1/8"), scored 1cm (4/10") from the edge on 3 sides. Tabs trimmed in corners, folded and then glued to base.
Cardstock front layer & card liner: 13.9cm x 13.9cm (5-7/16" x 5-7/16")
Designer Series Paper layer: 12cm x 9cm (4-7/10" x 3-1/2")
Ribbon: 52cm (20-1/2")

Just Add Color DSP | Aussies Who Love Stampin' Up! Challenge #019

Hi and thanks for visiting :)

This week we have a new fortnightly challenge over on the Aussies Who Love Stampin' Up! Facebook Group.

Our latest challenge #AWLSU019 is a technique challenge, using the Spotlight technique.
This is one of my favourite techniques :)

Myself and the other group admins will share our creations to start off each challenge and hopefully help kick-start and inspire your creativity.

If you live in Australia and are interested in participating in our fortnightly challenges, click here to join the group :)

A super quick and easy card created using the retired Just Add Color Specialty Designer Series Paper, which is currently available at 60% off in the Clearance Rack (so be quick if you want to grab yourself some of this gorgeous paper).

Using the larger label framelit from the Frosted Bouquet Framelits, I cut out a section of the DSP. I was able to make the cut out section longer than the framelit, by partially cutting and then moving the die and partially cutting again.

I added a strip of Pool Party cardstock and stamped my sentiment (from the Bunch of Blossoms stamp set) in Pool Party ink.

The leaves in my die cut section were coloured using my Stampin' Blends alcohol markers (see below for the colours used). This was then lined up with the rest of the patterned sheet and adhered using some Mini Stampin' Dimensionals.

Thanks so much for your support and for visiting me today :)

Ink it! Stamp it! Design Team Blog Hop | Theme: Christmas

Welcome to the Ink it! Stamp it! Design Team Blog Hop. This month we will be sharing projects inspired by our Christmas theme. The full line up below will guide you through all the projects.

I really love punch art, but don't get to create it very often so for today's project I created a punch art Poinsettia.

(Well.... if you want to get technical it isn't actually punch art, it is more diecut art as I used framelits instead of a punch).

I created my Poinsettia before I even had a design idea for my card. And I was having some trouble deciding on a card layout, that was until I found the latest Sunday Stamps #192 Sketch Challenge and my indecision was over :)

*************************************

My colour palette consists of Crumb Cake, Daffodil Delight, Garden Green, Real Red & Very Vanilla + some wood textures.

I have used the Nature's Roots framelits to create my Poinsettia. I started by using the small leaf embossing die and then cut it out using the co-ordinating small leaf framelit. Real Red for the flower petals and Garden Green for the leaves. The pieces were glued together using some Multipurpose Liquid Glue on to a scrap cardstock circle I had lying around.

The centre of the flower was created with some large 5mm Basic Pearls coloured with my Dark Daffodil Delight Blends marker.

The strip behind the flower is a piece of wood grain designer series paper from the Wood Textures pack.

My sentiment comes from the Wishing You Well stamp set and is stamped in Garden Green ink on a strip of Very Vanilla cardstock. The end was finished off using the Triple Banner Punch.

Thank you so much for joining us today. We hope you'll join us again next month to see our projects inspired by the upcoming Sale-A-Bration & Ocassions Catalogues.

Don't forget to continue the hop all the way around to see what the amazing Ink it! Stamp it! Design Team have come up with.
