Welcome to the Ink it! Stamp it! Blog Hop. This month we will be sharing projects inspired by our 3D theme. The full line up below will guide you through all the projects.
For my birthday a couple of years ago I was given a beautiful orchid. I've been lovingly looking after it, but it hasn't flowered since the original orchids fell off. I've been patiently waiting for over a year for it to flower.
However as soon as I saw the new Climbing Orchid Bundle in this years annual catalogue, I knew I wanted to create some orchids for my plant while I waited for the real ones.
Gotta love how life gets in the way.........I created my paper orchids, which I copied from the picture on the plant tag, a couple of months ago but hadn't gotten around to attaching them.
Since making these orchids, my plant has grown a new stem with flower buds and once it appeared it grew so much faster than I expected - so exciting!
I've finally attached my paper orchids and I can't wait till the real ones open up so I can compare my paper orchids against the real orchids.
Here is my project:
How I made my paper orchids

ReplyDeleteThanks so much Vicki :) It really is a gorgeous set.
DeleteBe sure to share a picture when the flowers open 😊
ReplyDeleteMost definitely will share. I can't wait to see how they compare :)
DeleteWhat a great idea to put your orchids on a real orchid plant! Gorgeous!! xx
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Cheryll :)
DeleteThis is the first orchid that I've seen that looks real. What a fantastic job!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Linda :)
DeleteI'm very impressed - not just with your creativity but also your ability to keep the plant alive for a whole year! Great job!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Stephanie. I wasn't sure it would ever flower again, but I figured if I didn't look after it, I would never find out :)
DeleteI think your plant just needed some encouragement! Beautiful job!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Nina :) I think it did too, hopefully soon it is going to remind me just how beautiful it is.
DeleteBeautiful idea Kirsten and amazing patience with your plant!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous Kirsten, I love your orchids! Your orchid must have got a bit jealous lol and thought it would show you how beautiful it really is ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Kim :) Yes, I suspect it did as the new stem only started to grow after I'd made the paper orchids and then started growing so fast before I attached them. I am sure once it flowers, it will put my paper ones to shame.
DeleteWhat a lovely idea! It makes you do a double take to work out if they are real flowers or not.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Fiona :)
DeleteWhat a great story!! I love the paper orchids they look so real - would love to see a comparison picture once it really blooms.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Carolina :) I will definitely share some comparison photos once it flowers.
