Our theme for this highlight is Baby.

May was a very busy time for a number of friends, who gave birth to gorgeous new additions to their families, all within a space of 2  1/2 weeks.

This meant I had a few Baby Congratulations cards to make, which worked out perfectly for the June International Baby Themed Highlights.

We were welcoming to the world, a Baby Boy, Twin Girls and a Baby Girl, so each card was going to be a little different.

After dreaming up a number of different designs, I settled on similar cards for each of them with slight differences to match their bubs :)

Here are my cards:

My baby boy card using Old Olive

The decorated inside personalised with the baby boys name.

My baby twin girls card using Melon Mambo

The decorated inside personalised with the baby girls names.

My baby girl card using Wisteria Wonder

The decorated inside, ready to be personalised with the baby girls name.
This card was created before she was born, so her name was added after I took this photo.

To create my cards, I stamped the Moon Baby image using StazOn Jet Black (use your favourite ink for watercolouring) on some watercolour paper.

Then using my classic ink pads and aqua painters, I coloured in my images. I used Dapper Denim for the sky, Daffodil Delight for the moon & star, Soft Suede for the babies hair, So Saffron for the babies face and hand, and then Olive Olive, Melon Mambo or Wisteria Wonder for the onesies depending on which card I was working on.

For the twins, I stamped an extra baby on a scrap of watercolour paper, coloured it in and then fussy cut it and adhered it to the card front once finished.

TIP: I recommend letting each colour dry before applying the next colour so you don't end up with colours bleeding into areas you don't want them.

The congratulations sentiment comes from the Floral Phrases Stamp Set and is stamped in matching ink for my card base / baby onesie on each card.

It is a little hard to see, but the hanging star has some subtle added sparkle using Clear Wink of Stella.

The twinkle, twinkle sentiment comes from the Moon Baby stamp set and is white heat embossed to make it stand out.

I then went to my huge ribbon stash and found some matching ribbons for each of my main card colours. The ribbons used are all retired (as I hadn't gotten my hands on the ribbons from the new catalogue at the time I made these cards), but could easily be substituted with any matching ribbons you have lying around. I tied a little bow for each card and once I had adhered my card front to my card base, I added the ribbons using some Tombow Multipurpose glue.

For my decorated inside, using the relevant matching coloured ink, I stamped the co-ordinating sentiment to go with the twinkle twinkle on the front, along with part of the baby toys stamp from the same set (I masked off the part of the stamp I didn't want).

I added the "Welcome" and the babies names, using the Labeler Alphabet stamp set.

Hope you like these as much as my friends did :)
